Charges and Payments

Public Health Action (PHA) is an open access online journal. The Journal is committed to a policy of open access to bring new knowledge to those directly engaged in providing health services to vulnerable individuals and those who live in resource-limited settings. To achieve this sustainably, the Journal must derive its means from those who provide this new knowledge.

Authors of accepted articles are therefore asked to pay a publication charge of 1500€ per article to cover production costs. For cost reasons, waivers cannot be granted.

Payment of publication charges via PayPal
A PayPal facility is available on the Manuscript Central site. Authors of accepted articles are automatically directed to the payment method.

  • Payment terms: Payment is due within 2 weeks of acceptance, or on receipt of the article proofs, whichever is sooner.
  • How to pay: A credit card payment screen can be accessed from your Author Centre in Manuscript Central by clicking on 'Manuscripts with Decisions'.
  • Delivery Policy: An acknowledgement will automatically be sent to the author of an accepted article as soon as the payment has been successfully made via PayPal. An invoice can be provided upon request to the Editorial Office.
  • Cancellation / Refund Policy: Authors who decide not to publish an accepted article in PHA, for whatever reason, should contact the Editorial office within 7 days of acceptance for a refund.
  • Privacy Policy: PHA guarantees that no private data will be communicated to any third party. Under civil liberties protection laws, you are entitled to check, consult or remove any data that concern you. To do so, please contact us at the Editorial Office.
